Rules of the World Science Fiction Society

The World Science Fiction Society (WSFS) is governed by its Constitution and Standing Rules to which links are given below. These are accurate as of August 1, 2020, after the end of the 2020 Worldcon, CoNZealand in Wellington, New Zealand. Documents are PDF except where noted.

Note: Due to travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 WSFS Business Meeting took very few actions, made no changes to the Standing Rules, had no Resolutions or Rulings of Continuing Effect, and effectively postponed the ratification of all constitutional amendments passed on from the 2019 Worldcon. Those constitutional amendments will be up for ratification at the 2021 Worldcon.

An archive of rules from previous years is available here.

Video of recent years’ Business Meetings is available here.

of the World Science Fiction Society
as of August 1, 2020, after the end of the 2020 Worldcon, CoNZealand

Note: This document states that is is as of August 19, 2019, because no changes were made by the 2020 WSFS Business Meeting, so the 2019-20 and 2020-21 versions of the WSFS Constitution are identical.

BUSINESS PASSED ON
to Worldcon 79, DisCon III (Washington DC, USA, 2021)
as of August 1, 2020, after the end of the 2020 Worldcon, CoNZealand

Note: Because the 2020 WSFS Business Meeting technically rejected all constitutional amendments passed on for ratification and then immediately readopted them for first passage and passed no other new constitutional amendments, the Business Passed On to Worldcon 79 (2020, Washington DC) is identical to the Business Passed On to Worldcon 78 (2020, New Zealand).
